Gender, and the Bible

June 4, 2026

People love to act like the Bible has a whole verse about "Thou shalt not be trans." It does not. Not in Hebrew, not in Greek, not in any translation.

But omission alone does not prove anything. The Bible also never said anything about nuclear bombs. So the real question is: what does Scripture actually care about?

1 Samuel 16:7

"But the Lord said to Samuel, Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees. Man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart."

This is the first big clue. God does not judge people based on their bodies, presentation, or appearance. Humans obsess over that stuff. God does not.

Acts 8 and the eunuch

The first recorded person to be baptized in the early church was a eunuch. Historically, that word covered:

In other words, someone who did not fit the standard male category. And the Holy Spirit sent Philip directly to him.

1 John 4:20-21

"Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister."

Scripture is clear: you cannot claim to love God while hating people made in his image.
